Laser Treatment for Alopecia Areata (Spotted Hair Loss)

Patchy hair loss, or alopecia areata, is a skin disease that causes localized hair loss. The disease does not destroy the hair follicles, and the hair often grows back.

The patient initially notices a naked spot on the head, in the beard or elsewhere on the body.

The skin on these spots is in no way changed, there is just no hair there. At the grooves there are sometimes ‘exclamation point hairs’, with a small point at the base.

The spots are mostly round or oval. Sometimes there is only one spot, at others several.

The spots can become larger and flow together, sometimes after a while the patient becomes completely hairless on the head (alopecia totalis) or the whole body (alopecia universalis’) and without eyebrows, eyelashes and pubic hair.

Alopecia Areata is an autoimmune disease.

The down hairs in the nose, if they disappear, there will be problems with many types of smell, and this causes allergic reactions.

Missing eyelashes: Often leads to watery eyes.

Skin: Often dry and with eczema outbreaks.

This can affect all age groups, where it goes slowly from spot to spot, or all the hair can disappear overnight. No one knows the reason for this.
